SEXY BACK
Fashion has started a new love affair with low-cut and backless wedding dresses. Here are some expert tips on how to sculpt your back for a flawless look.
It’s important to follow a strict cardio routine three to five times a week to burn calories and sculpt not only your back, but also your arms and legs, says Johannesburg-based personal trainer, Sally Ross.
Twenty minutes of interval running on the treadmill increasing the pace every minute for 1 minute. Do this for 4 minutes then reduce the pace again for 1 minute. Repeat this 4 times. Remember to warm up and cool down for 2 minutes before and after you train.
Ten minutes on the cross trainer, going as fast as you can. Pump your arms as this will work your back.
Lie on your stomach on a pilates ball with your legs straight, toes on the floor and hands behind your head. Lower your body so that you are almost wrapped around the ball. Raise your body back up to level. Repeat 10 times. Do 2-3 sets.
Lie on the pilates ball (same as above). Hold a small 1-2kg weight (or a full water bottle or food tin) in each hand. Raise each hand up and out to the side until level with your body. Keep arms straight. Lower back to floor. Repeat 12 times. Do 2-3 sets of each.
Also remember….
• Exfoliate your back regularly in the weeks before your wedding day and nourish it religiously with luxurious body cream.
• Be very careful of self-tanning products – no streaks please!
• If you want a sun-kissed look, tan your back for a few minutes each day with a high SPF on. And watch for tan marks from your bikini.
